Finally, I've got a 60's Japanese bass that's not branded 'Kingston'! It doesn't matter as they pretty much all came out of the same factory in the mid-1960's. This one has a cooler and more angular design than most and the fact that the pickguard mirrors the body shape makes it really interesting visually. Those 6-pole guitar pickups are factory as well and are pretty hot for their size. Like most of these 60's beauties this one has a solid mahogany body and a mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard. It's a really chubby neck that's very comfortable because it's not a baseball-bat profile. The giant bakelite knobs aren't factory but I like them even though I'll look for a nice set of proper knobs in my spare time (what the heck is spare time?). This bass has a satisfying, earthy tone that's both warm and has focus almost like a Jazz Bass but a bit more rounded. It's complete and original and comes with a good gig bag.
